More details to come. The Public Relations Society of America's Central Chesapeake Chapter is holding a panel discussion on diversity & inclusion in business. Join our panel of diversity experts to learn best-kept secrets to growing your organization and the local economy by employing cutting-edge diversity decision making.

Topics will include:

  • Helping minority and women business owners to win contracts in the public and private sector

  • Setting up effective training programs to achieve diversity goals

  • Establishing resource groups and networks in your organization

  • Rebranding career sites and other points of influence to effectively show a diverse and inclusive company

  • Identifying bias and cultural sensitivity training providers/resources around sourcing and interviewing

  • Recommending technology to assist in sourcing/interviewing

This distinguished panel of diversity and inclusion experts will discuss why hiring a more diverse staff and reaching out to new clients, customers, and vendors is crucial to growing your organization and the local economy:

Andres Echeverri, Andean Solutions International, LLC DBA, and ACSI Translations
Andres is the President of ACSI Translations (ACSI). Under his leadership, ACSI, which provides enterprise language access solutions into over 60 languages, has grown from a $20,000 initial investment in 2010 to a full blown top tier firm that serves corporate and government customers with complex operational language and multicultural needs. He is originally from Colombia, South America, and is also a proud Naturalized American Citizen. Andres brings 25 years of Inter-American business and finance experience to the DMV region. Andres’ experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer for a $35 million Private Equity Group, owned by South American Principals and based in Rockville, Maryland. He was responsible for the financial, planning, as well as being a member of the executive and acquisition committee. Other experience includes a top 20 fortune 500 National Bank in retail and wholesale banking for Wells Fargo. Andres was instrumental in developing relationships, between bank and Latino non- profit organizations, to financially support areas of Education, Health, Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training.

Torin Ellis, Diversity Strategist
Torin Ellis is a Diversity Strategist, Published Author, and SiriusXM Contributor. Torin has an accomplished background that includes nearly 20 years of recruitment and strategy efforts, military service, several Board of Director appointments and unwavering spirit of giving back to the community and emerging youth. An advocate for diversity and inclusion, Mr. Ellis was named Top Recruiter in Top Recruiter Season 4, Reign of the Bosses and served as an advisor in Season 5 (London/Paris). His book, Rip The Resume, an interview preparation resource for 18- to 30-year-old job seekers, was published by Petersons (September 2016). Mr. Ellis has also created a docufilm series on The Art of Recruiting.

Wayne Frazier SR, President, Maryland Washington Minority Companies Association
Mr. Frazier is president of the Maryland Washington Minority Contractors’ Association (MWMCA). Baltimore is his hometown; he is a graduate of Morgan State University. In 2002, MWMCA originated to advocate for minority and women construction trade contractors because so much work was being completed without the utilization of said firms. Eleven (11) years later, in 2013, MWMCA evolved to include working with all types of companies: trade contractors, suppliers, and service providers. MWMCA has a unique offering of services with one mission in mind, “Connecting Large & Small Businesses to Work Together.

Ruby Stemmle, Founder and CEO of EcoLatinos
Ruby Stemmle is the founder and CEO of EcoLatinos Consulting, LLC. EcoLatinos is a women-owned small business providing support to businesses, government agencies and organizations seeking access to Spanish-speaking audiences in the U.S. and Latin America. Ruby has over 15 years of experience in sensitive government relations, public engagement and community outreach. She managed appointments for the administration of Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and Hispanic outreach for the States' Attorney of Prince George's County. Ruby earned a degree in Tourism Management in her native city of Bogota, Colombia where she also did studies in Colombian law. She is a Rawlings Fellowship alumnus from the University of Maryland James McGregor Burns Academy of Leadership and is currently seeking a Project Management certification at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.
