WNAV Radio Wins AP "Outstanding News Operation" Award and Others

Hires New News Director From Channel 4 in DC

The Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association announces the winners of annual awards in a ceremony during their convention held in Ocean City, Maryland. The News Department of Annapolis radio station WNAV took home honors in four categories.

The station received the highest award for "Outstanding News Operation of the Year" for the Non Metro Region. The judges commented that "WNAV presented a wide range of examples that show how extensive their coverage of the listening area is, and how committed the staff is to providing good content to listeners".

In addition to the prestigious "Outstanding News Operation of the Year", WNAV's Finn Neilsen won awards for "Best Reporter" and "Best Multimedia/Online Journalism".

The fourth honor, "Best Talk Show", was awarded to WNAV's Donna Cole, host of the station's weekly public affairs program, The 1430 Connection.

"We are overwhelmed and humbled by the accolades our team received from the Chesapeake Associated Press" said Steve Hopp, WNAV V.P. and General Manager. "It is wonderful to be given such commendations for the work we do to bring local news and information to our listeners every day."

Simultaneously, Hopp announced the addition of Raychel Harvey-Jones as News Director to lead the award winning News and Public Affairs Department at the station. Raychel comes to WNAV from her previous position of Content Producer, Writer and Reporter for NBC4 in Washington, DC.
